GTC 2014

GTC 2014 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center |
This year's GTC (GPU Technology Conference) was especially exciting. Not only was it my first GTC but it was also the first time I presented three session talks about UI Composer Studio to a fairly large audience.
In addition to the exciting GPU announcements during the keynote, I witnessed for the first time the Audi self piloted car. There were audible gasps in the crowd as the Audi drove onto stage completely autonomously. It reminded me of the song "Crash" by Scott Weiland where the lyrics go "Your car passed my street today, but no one was driving. It must be a metaphor for losing my mind." Well, I certainly felt that way at the time.
What do you think of self driving cars? Will you miss the driving experience? I certainly will miss the spontaneity of getting into the car and driving to the furthest Starbucks so that I can enjoy the ride and finish a great song. As amazing as the concept of the self driving car may be, I can't help but wonder if its luster will wear off quickly and people will liken the experience to just taking the bus. Either way, it will remain to be seen if this technology can withstand the difficult tests ahead of it.
Now, back to the exciting projects that I started before GTC. Stay tuned for more!
